Tool Steel Rectangle/Flat Bar W1 is a water-hardening tool steel that is one of the most commonly used tool steels due to its strong characteristics. It does undergo a decent amount of distortion during quenching, so do be aware of that. The bar is precision ground to a maximum surface finish of 40 Ra on both the thickness and width. Also, the bar is mechanically straightened with a flatness aim of 0.005" per foot.
