Our Safety Culture
Safety is our top priority. And that’s not just talk. We don’t just observe and talk about safety at Onlinemetals.com– we hold ourselves and each other accountable to ensure that each of us goes home in the same safe state that we arrived. And rather than just talk about it here, we thought we’d also show you what we do.
We aren’t working with toilet paper and squishees here at Online Metals – we're working with metal that is unforgiving in its density and weight. And the first thing we ensure everyone knows is that we must ALWAYS be mindful of safety while working with metal. And here’s what everyone working in our warehouse is provided to keep them safe. We encourage you to also keep yourself similiarly protected if you are ever working around moving and cutting metal.

Communicate, communicate, communicate!
The next is that we communicate. Each morning our warehouse teams meet to talk about the upcoming day and to share safety reminders and tips. Anyone on the team can voice a concern or ask a question. In fact, we encourage participation by calling on different team members to speak up and share their thoughts! Also, if there have been any safety incidents or successes shared elsewhere within the company – those are brought up.
Continuous improvement drives safety
We are also committed to continuous improvement of our processes. There isn’t a single task we do that couldn’t be made better! And one really cool tool we use to make change happen is called our continuous improvement board. Located in each of our warehouses (and offices) anyone can add something to the board and it will get logged by our continuous improvement team who will then work to bring the change to reality.
