AR500 is a high-strength, low-alloy steel with exceptional hardness, abrasion resistance, and impact toughness. As a sheet or plate product, it is commonly used for armored vehicle plates, targets, mining equipment, and other industrial applications requiring extreme wear resistance against sliding abrasion and impact. Its high carbon content and additional alloys give AR500 steel its unique combination of surface hardness up to 534 BHN and toughness to withstand heavy forces without fracturing.
