Carbon steel 1141 is a resulphurized, heat treatable grade with manganese and chromium additions that provide good machinability and moderate strength. With its higher carbon content compared to plain carbon steels, it can be heat treated to achieve higher hardness and strength levels. Round bars made from 1141 steel are commonly used for shafts, studs, bolts, gears, and other cylindrical or turned components requiring a combination of strength and good machining properties.
