Brass 280 sheet and plate (Muntz brass) is a high strength copper zinc alloy designed for applications requiring durability, corrosion resistance, and structural performance. Known for its distinctive golden color and superior mechanical strength compared to other brasses, C28000 is widely used in marine and industrial environments. Its duplex (alpha beta) structure provides increased hardness and rigidity, making it well suited for heavy duty applications.
This alloy performs exceptionally well in hot working operations such as rolling, forging, and forming, but is less suitable for cold forming due to its hardness. Brass 280 also offers excellent resistance to corrosion, particularly in marine environments, making it a reliable choice for long term exposure to harsh conditions.
