An excellent high carbon steel. 52100 was developed for use as industrial bearings and has excellent wear resistance and strength. 52100 makes an excellent knife. This alloy and all our alloys have been properly annealed. You do not have to do any non-standard wasteful processes to harden the steel. Follow the heat treat recipe and the steel will get hard.

The bar measures 0.08 inches in thickness, 3 inches in width, and 11.6 inches in length. It is made from 52100 carbon steel, known for its high carbon content (0.93 - 1.1%) and alloying elements like chromium (1.4 - 1.6%) that provide excellent wear resistance and strength.

Yes, the 52100 bar is supplied annealed, meaning it has been properly softened for machining. You can follow standard heat treat recipes to harden the steel as needed without additional wasteful processes.

Absolutely. This alloy was originally developed for industrial bearings due to its wear resistance and strength, and it also makes an excellent knife material.

The product weighs approximately 0.82 lb with a ship weight of 1.32 lb and is currently in stock, ready for immediate purchase and shipment.

This bar is cold rolled, which typically provides a smooth surface finish and tight dimensional tolerances suitable for precision applications.
