Knife Blade Materials

Online Metals offers a wide variety of materials used for knife blades including W1 Tool Steel, 1084 carbon steel, and stainless steels like 440C & AEB-L. For forging, we recommend a round bar/drill rod while we recommend a rectangle bar for the stock removal method. We also offer 52100 ball bearings for those interested in canister Damascus. Bladesmithing for beginners? We recommend working with C110 Copper and Silicon Bronze on heat management before working with the main knife steel types.
