Steel plain hex nuts are standard-profile fasteners designed for general-purpose fastening in a wide range of industrial, automotive, and construction applications. As the most common type of hex nut, they provide a strong, reliable internal thread for securing bolts and screws in structural and mechanical assemblies. The "plain" designation indicates that the carbon steel is raw and uncoated. This finish is specifically chosen for applications where the nut will be welded in place or where a custom secondary finish, such as paint or specialized plating, will be applied after the assembly is complete.
