See Aluminum Tolerances

7050-T7451 plate has great stress corrosion and exfoliation resistance, strength, and fracture toughness, even more so than the more standard aerospace aluminum alloy 7075. This alloy is normally used in thicker sections because it has less quench sensitivity which allows it to keep it’s strength. Typical applications of 7050-T7451 aluminum plate are: Fuselage Frames, Bulkheads, and Wing Sections. Welding is not recommended and may result in weld cracking, porosity and a weak joint.
